The historic city of Melaka witnessed a thrilling spectacle as thousands of RXZ motorcycles roared through its streets during a two-day gathering, but this excitement came with a price. The event, known as the 'RXZ Members Ride Edition Melaka 3.0', attracted over 30,000 enthusiasts, causing a stir among locals and sparking intense debates. The thunderous engines disrupted the city's tranquility, with residents expressing concerns over noise pollution, traffic safety, and the overall impact on their daily lives. The event's organizers faced a challenging task: balancing the economic benefits of such gatherings with the potential drawbacks on the community and tourism image.
The event's impact was immediate, with residents reporting excessive noise, particularly late at night, as a significant issue. MP Khoo Poay Tiong highlighted the dangerous behavior of some riders who ignored traffic signals and raced on public roads, endangering other road users. This behavior left a negative impression on tourists, potentially tarnishing Melaka's reputation as a desirable tourism destination. While acknowledging the economic benefits, Khoo emphasized the need for careful planning to ensure the well-being of residents and the city's long-term appeal.
However, the Melaka tourism committee chairman, Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, defended the event, arguing that it brought economic benefits to the state. He dismissed the notion that the actions of a few irresponsible riders should define the entire experience. Abdul Razak assured that the event was closely monitored and coordinated with authorities to prevent any illegal activities or disturbances. The state government, led by Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, is already planning a 'Special Edition RXZ Mega Gathering Melaka 2026' to further boost tourism initiatives. Yusoh promised more structured routes for future events, aiming to integrate the gathering seamlessly with the state's tourism landscape.
